according to World That Works, everyone should live at a high standard of living, but if we don’t change what that means, we will destroy Earth trying to do it.
We all want to live a high quality life, but these days that desire has been distorted into a life of high consumption and waste that we call a “high standard of living.”

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is not a good measure of the standard of living. It measures the production of products and their consumption with the assumption that more consumption equals a better, higher quality of life. Quality of life is about a lot more than having stuff.

It’s my hope that following the patterns in this book would lead you to a high quality of life, where you’re empowered to be creative and care for your fellow humans and the planet we share. Certainly, we want to be comfortable, be in good health and have freedom. I think a high quality of life includes the ability to pursue personal development.
