Gratitude
Celebrate our interdependence and reflect on the people and things you’re thankful for.
part of having a Healthy Body and a healthy mind is deeply understanding our relationships with other people and the universe. We are not on our own, nor did we get where we are by ourselves. This pattern is about celebrating our interdependence.
When we don’t take time to notice and acknowledge all the ways we are supported, it hurts our psychological well-being, our relationships and our health.
-
Gratitude is an acknowledgment of our interdependence with universe. No one gets where they are in life without support. If you’re alive, even if your life is not the way you want it to be, you can be grateful for the air you breathe that sustains your life, and the water and food you have. The basics are always there, and they can extend out into the universe where we can be thankful for the light of the Sun and the beauty of the Moon. For the ways the Earth nurtures life of all kinds.
-
Gratitude, if practiced consistently, can change your perspective on the world. Instead of seeing everything as a threat, you can more easily see the good that even the unknown can bring. That perspective often leads to a sense of ease. It’s part of an abundance mindset.
-
Gratitude can be simple. At your next meal, raise a glass and toast something. Maybe it will be something that happened to you that day. Maybe it will be the people who you are with. Maybe it will just be celebrating the fact that you are alive.
-
There’s even room for gratitude in the pain of life. Challenges make us stronger, so even in the midst of what a friend of mind called “another damn growth experience” you may find that you’re grateful for the opportunity to learn.
Therefore:
Celebrate our interdependence and reflect on the people and things you’re thankful for. Make gratitude a part of every day, either by building a habit of noticing it or by creating a daily gratitude practice of some kind.
Gratitude is a good subject for any Ritual you might create for yourself
