Care for your body by getting outside, eating healthy foods, sleeping and exercising.
according to [[ Service From Abundance ]], we need to take care of ourselves before we can help others. Begin by building a Network of Friends and getting involved in Local Commonships. Ponder the Fundamental Mystery, and establish a Creative Practice. This pattern reminds us to take care of the body that makes all the other stuff possible.
The body and mind are interdependent: if we focus on one of them at the expense of the other, we won’t get far.

In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey tells the story of a man encountering another man cutting down a tree with a saw: it’s clear that the progress is slow and difficult, so the first man suggests that he take a few minutes to sharpen the saw so he can go faster. “I don’t have time to sharpen the saw,” the man says emphatically. “I’m too busy sawing!”

This is the introduction to his seventh habit, and “sharpening the saw” is his metaphor for taking care of yourself. He lists four dimensions of our nature that need to be renewed: physical, spiritual, mental, and social/emotional. The physical aspect is what this pattern is about; the other dimensions are handled throughout this book.

There are literally millions of references you can find about how to be healthy, and in some ways it’s a moving target as we learn more bout the human body, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Here’s Jim Rutt’s summary of what is needed: “Get healthy mentally and physically. Some straightforward if not easy steps to take: get enough sleep, spend at least 60 minutes a day outside irrespective of the weather, and minimize the consumption of processed food. 100 minutes a week of vigorous exercise will also make a big difference to both your body and your mind.”
