Time to Create
Make time in your life to create yourself and the world you want to live in.
to strengthen our Personal Universe or be World Creators, we need to spend time. In a way, this time is a matter of setting priorities—Proactive Urgency—but that doesn’t make it easier in this busy world.
If you want to create a life that both fulfills you and helps create a better world, you’ve got to spend the time that it takes.
-
There’s an old metaphor used in time management: let’s say you have to put a lot of different-sized rocks (tasks) into a container (your limited time). You have big rocks, smaller pebbles, and even sand that has to fit in there. If you put the pebbles and sand into the container first, there likely won’t be any room left for the big rocks, whereas if you put in the big rocks first, the pebbles and sand will fill in the cracks around the big rocks and everything will fit. You may have guessed that the big rocks represent the things that are most important to you, and the point is that you need to factor them in first or all the piddly rocks and sand will take over your life, and you’ll never get to what’s important.
-
I assert that time to create is a big rock, maybe even several big rocks, and you should consider fitting them in ahead of any other rocks. Of course, I’m not the only one who thinks they have a big rock for you. Work, exercise, time with the kids, and so on, are all big rocks and are demanding your attention.
-
So, perhaps, think of your creative time as a bunch of pebbles. That can work. I did it that way for years before I was finally able to devote real time to it. Find time in the cracks. Keep your notebook with you and pull it out as you wait in line at the bank. Or take a few minutes while your child is in the bathtub to read a few pages of a book you want to read.
-
It will be slower, but at least it will happen. And sometimes, we need a bit of time to process the big ideas. Get a big idea in a short break, then mull it over for a few hours or days.
Therefore:
Make time in your life to create your life—think, play, meditate, rethink, build, design, grow and more. Schedule the time if possible, or look for ways to fit your creative time between the cracks if necessary.
If you think carefully about your Creation Realm, you may find that there are times and places where you can create while doing other things; finding time to Walk can both serve as exercise and Contemplation
