Local Campaigns

Implement local campaigns to get more people making a real difference.

people who are looking for ways to improve the world—Sovereign World Creators—can both think and act globally, but the real work, and the more satisfying work, tends to be local.

Some global problems have global solutions, but most of the time a global problem is solved by lots of people solving it locally.

  • As much as possible, campaigns should be implemented locally to make it more in line with local concerns or culture. This is better supported if the campaign is built as an open artifacts project, at least within the organization.

  • Local effort is where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. Global campaigns are good for spreading awareness of issues, but if you want people to get out and make something happen, then a local campaign will engage them more because it affects them more directly.

Therefore:

Whenever possible, implement a local Solutions campaign. Tailor the messages according to the local concerns and needs so people will feel they have some stake in whether the solution is successful.

Help people understand all the things they can do at their local level—Levels of Work. Global campaigns can direct and support local campaigns if resources are made available to local chapters—Open Campaigns
