Toward the Generative
Look toward what we’re building rather than what we’re leaving behind.
once you’ve chosen a solution that is in line with a Just Transition and other concerns, consider how this solution moves us toward our goals and how we can communicate that to others.
Winning the old games of the extractive economy is unimportant. If we focus on those old games, it’s harder to think about how we can keep the infinite game of the generative economy in play.
-
The preferred perspective we want to encourage is movement toward a generative economy, and we’d rather not waste any time talking about moving away from the extractive economy.
-
Looking toward a better future is a more positive way to think about the work that we’re doing. Social media and clickbait headlines indicate that making people angry and focusing on the bad is an effective strategy for getting people’s attention, but we are not trying to steal people’s attention. The people we are serving are already looking for solutions, so we can get their attention without appealing to negative emotions. They need to trust us and know that we are working toward something positive in order to fully engage with us.
Therefore:
In the wording for your campaign, and in the way you position it, encourage movement toward a generative economy and don’t focus on moving away from the extractive economy. We are turning our back on the old ways which means focusing on the new ways.
In addition to thinking about the solution in terms of the generative economy, it’s important that we also think about the people building that economy—Sovereign World Creators—in ways that are in line with the Just Transition
