There are often so many ideas about how to solve a problem that it’s difficult to know which ones to act on.

An organization like 350.org has it’s own creative practice. It can choose to advocate for solutions to the broader problem its trying to solve. It’s role then, is to vet all the available and possible solutions, choose ones that it thinks have a good chance of working, educate others about what they’ve learned, and work to enable those people to implement the solutions, usually at the local level.

A Solutions campaign is a form of advocacy. In the case of a desired political policy, it is a grassroots campaign to garner support the policy in question. In the case of a technology, it is a way to increase awareness, understanding and adoption of that technology.

A Solutions campaign can provide policy, advocacy, education, and technical assistance for solutions that are in development or already in existence.
Therefore:
As much as possible, look for the best solutions available for a given problem, then build solution campaigns to provide policy recommendations, advocacy, education, and technical assistance to people looking for solutions to implement.
It is important that we define what we mean by the “best solutions.” In our case, we are looking for solutions that are in line with a Just Transition
