while you’re Sense of Sight and Sense of Hearing tell you a lot about what’s going on around you, they don’t tell you much about how to interact with the world; touch is critical to using your body in a physical world.
If we were conscious of every touch sensation we had throughout the day, we would be overwhelmed, so our mind adapts and turns some of that perception off. But living without paying attention to touch is the definition of being numb.

Your senses are your source of experience. Leonardo DaVinci was well aware of this and tried to refine all his senses.

For the purposes of this book, we separate our sense of touch from internal feelings. They are similar, but our sense of touch provides information about the world around us, where our internal Felt Senses tell us more about what’s going on inside us.
